IVAN GULAS, Partner, Digital Distribution

Dr. Ivan Gulas is a serial entrepreneur with a proven history of successful ventures in entertainment and entertainment related technologies. He is also an Executive Producer and Producer of films, TV series, new media, and live-to-air sports and concert productions and is a Member of the Producers Guild of America.

Gulas has been repeatedly cited as an innovator in entertainment industry publications, and WIRED Magazine, in a feature article on Digital Hollywood named him as one of the ‘25 players who are reinventing entertainment’ in Hollywood. He was a founder of Mirage Technologies (MT), whose partners were responsible for early breakthrough work in tele-robotic surgery utilizing immersive and interactive VR environments and force-feedback solution. Transitioning to entertainment, MT in partnership with Safeguard Scientifics, (VC fund), acquired Pacific Title & Art Studio, in 1997, which at the time was Hollywood's oldest and most respected post and visual effects studio. Gulas assume the leadership role and spearheaded the Company’s massive expansion, and participation in major VFX driven films including; TITANIC, DEEP IMPACT, DR. DOLOITTLE 2, BATTLEFIELD EARTH: A SAGA OF THE YEAR 3000, VIRUS, SPIDER, FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON (which garnered an Emmy nomination) among many others. In 2000, PT/M, spun out LifeFx, (based on Gulas/Sagar’s facial animation patent), which became a NASDAQ listed company.

Gulas has been an Executive Producer, Producer & Director on several live-to-air and Pay-Per-View sporting events and concerts and Producer of TV Series. He has also been the Producer and/or Executive Producer of motion pictures, which most recently include BERLIN, I LOVE YOU, with Keira Knightley and Helen Mirren, and A ROSE IN WINTER, with Christian Cooke and Zane Marjanovic, both to be released in 2018.

In 2004 Gulas was an early investor, a Member of the Board and President of B2TV at B2 Networks, Inc. B2 Networks became a market leader in the PPV broadband broadcasting of live sporting events. Prior to B2 Networks' acquisition by the National Cable TV Network, America One/ One World Sports, in 2010, (where Gulas remains a shareholder), B2TV had successfully produced over 16,000 live broadband broadcasts (mostly via Pay-Per-View), and forged exclusive broadband broadcasting rights of over 420 teams in over 10 pro leagues (AHL, ECHL, IHL, USHL, NAHL, WSHL, TUF, Indoor Football League, Tennis Tournaments and more) as well as over 350 NCAA teams and schools.

Prior to transitioning his career to entertainment, Dr. Gulas was on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, Dept. of Psychiatry/Psychology and on the staffs of Beth Israel Hospital, Mass. General Hospital. Gulas attended graduate school at Dartmouth College, and holds degrees from both Boston University and Ohio University. He completed his clinical internship at Beth Israel Hospital-Harvard Medical School, where he was also a Post-Doctoral Fellow. He is also a published author of a book and numerous articles and was recipient of the prestigious “Humanitarian of The Year” Award from the Emmanuel Foundation, joining a select list of recipients that includes a former U.S. president and other notable world figures.
